Power outage

2005-12-19 2 min read Web marco

Amazing. So there is this little storm (actually, quite the giant storm) passing through town, and it brings the first thunder and lightning in years. Wouldn’t you know it, the power is knocked out for 16 hours, like in some backwards Third World country?

Sunday plans had to go to heck. No laundry, no gym, and instead of working on improving the house and putting everything in place, I spent the whole day looking for the fuse box. I knew I had seen it while trying to save the little Mondo, but I didn’t know where it was.

Turns out they put it in the strangest place possible, the basement basement, and I spent the whole day for nothing.

Then I went my my friend J. to see “Brokeback Mountain”, the gay cowboy movie, and we bored ourselves to death for two and a half hours. Just when the movie was about to end, the film broke and we have no idea what the ending looks like. I would love to give you a review, but I’ll first have to figure that one out.

Sigh. After the movie we went for dinner in the Castro (Catch, great food but really snooty) and then for a short hop to Sweet Inspiration. As we got back to the house, still no power, and a bunch of neighbors roaming around, trying to figure out what to do. At 10 PM, finally, power came back on.

Thirld World, I tell you. A storm knocks out power for a day. Tsk.
